According to former Blues midfielder Gus Poyet, following their summer transfer spree, Frank Lampard is ready to manage with the heightened requirements on Chelsea this season.
“We are already coming to a point where it seems like Chelsea is going to actually invest,” Poyet told Sky Sports.
“It’s totally changing the parameters from last year. Last year was a year of change, ‘Let’s see how we are going,’ so it was really nice. With the possibility of all of these players coming in now, Chelsea must aim for the top two, if not the league win.”
“How competitive Lampard is, I guess he’d prefer that, I guess he’d like people to come along and try after the major opportunities.”
“I don’t think he just wanted to be at Chelsea playing with small kids and not being allowed to win trophies. I think that Frank needs to earn titles and that kind of player would give him the ability to move closer.”
