The Real Madrid striker Benzema, again in the team, after a break of more than five years, with coach Didier Deschamps, helped his colleagues find the bottom of the net along with Kylian Mbappe, Antoine Griezmann, and Ousmane Dembele.
Wales threatened at first, but when Neco Williams was shown a red card for handling the ball in a Benzema attempt, his wings were clipped, causing the striker to miss a penalty in the 27th minute.
France will take on Bulgaria on Tuesday before they begin their Euro 2020 campaign against Germany in Group F, where they will also take on Hungary and the Portuguese champions. Wales were placed in Group A along with Switzerland, Turkey, and Italy.

Deschamps was pleased with Benzema’s performance and said, “He was unlucky, but you can see how technically talented he is. A goal would have limited him, but he saves the goals for later. “
Benzema signaled his return in the fourth minute with a header from Paul Pogba’s cross, while Wales’ Daniel James forced an excellent save from an oblique shot off Hugo Lloris. Danny Ward made a brilliant save from Pogba’s header, but Benzema chased down and Williams used his hand to block the striker’s attempt.
After a VAR review, France were awarded a penalty and Williams was relegated, only to see Benzema see his shot at the position saved by Ward, meaning Les Bleus missed five of the last eight penalties. Ward again went to deny Antoine Griezmann, but the ball fell in the way of Mbappe, who stabbed him at home for 17. of France’s goal in 34′ minutes.
With a superb winding effort after being set up by Benzema’s back heel, Griezmann doubled the lead three minutes into the second half. Benzema had another chance in the 79th minute when his volley hit the half-bar and fell to Dembele, who scored France’s third goal with a cold finish.
