Jamie Carragher former Liverpool and England defender has expressed his thoughts on Manchester United’s probabilities.
“Manchester United can win the Premier League this season. Those words alone are enough to gladden the hearts of their fans. But the more I see them, the more I am convinced it can happen,” Carragher wrote in a column for The Telegraph.
“I don’t believe they have radically improved, but their strength is that the team can win without performing [well] all 90 minutes. We’ve seen a lot of that this season, when a terrible minute was followed by a brilliant one. The away form also makes them dangerous.”
“The main reason they have a chance is because two of the country’s outstanding teams, Liverpool and Manchester City, have pulled away.”
“Man Utd could be one of the main beneficiaries of this unique season because the title can be won with just over 80 points. They are among those who can achieve that goal, especially if they rectify a poor performance at Old Trafford.”
“Bruno Fernandes is one of the outstanding players in the Premier League. But I am not convinced that Manchester United are a well-balanced, stable team yet. They still have problems. You can’t just rely on the strikers, their goalkeeping problem needs to be solved too.”
“De Gea still makes too many mistakes. If Henderson can’t prove United don’t need to sign a new goalkeeper at the end of the season, what was the point of bringing him back?”
