Joan Laporta, former president of Catalan club is running again for Barcelona presidential elections, and at the club’s academy intends to use the famous Liverpool slogan “You’ll Never Walk Alone”.
“La Masia will accompany the players under the slogan You’ll Never Walk Alone,” says Laporta’s election statement.
“We want La Masia to become a center of excellence and sportsmanship, but also a center for personal development, where the approach to athletes is not standardized, but individual.”
“We will do this with special attention to the values that are the basis for strong personalities that we can be proud of: we need athletes who love Barca.”
The classic You’ll Never Walk Alone song, written by American composers Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II for the musical Carousel in 1945, is known in football as the Liverpool anthem, played by fans before every home match of the team.
