Everton wants to extend defender Lucas Digne’s contract to lose Manchester City’s interest in him, claims The Times.
The Merseyside club has no intention of parting with the Frenchman.
Everton, given their progress this season and owner Farhad Moshiri’s financial injections, want their club not to be seen as an end goal rather than an interim step before moving to a top club. Therefore, Digne wants to persuade him to sign a new deal.
Digne, 27, has two years left on his agreement and has attracted interest from a number of clubs, including Manchester City, who were disappointed with Benjamin Mendy.
