Two penalties of Hirving Lozano and Adam Ounas’s goal turned things around for a 4-1 win as Napoli leapfrog Legia Warsaw at the top of the Europa League group. Victor Osimhen, Lorenzo Insigne, Fabian Ruiz, Kevin Malcuit, Kostas Manolas, and suspended Mario Rui did not travel with the Partenopei.
The hosts fired coach Czeslaw Michniewicz and promoted Marek Golebiewski from the reserve squad after nine points in 11 domestic football games. Napoli won 3-0 when these two teams met at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
The Poland international also sent the rebound over when Piotr Zielinski smashed the crossbar from 12 yards. Anguissa’s header from a corner was well saved, while Hirving Lozano turned over from a promising position and Eljif Elmas’ angled drive was knocked away at the near post by the goalkeeper’s legs.
As Mladenovic pulled back from the left again, allowing Yuri Ribeiro’s shot to deflect off the near post Legia was unlucky not to go 2-0 up immediately after the restart. Napoli was awarded a penalty when Josue was found to have barged Zielinski over just inside the box. To equalize, the Poland international converted the spot-kick himself.
There was time for Adam Ounas to bask in the euphoria of his injury comeback. He flicked up the rebound with his left and volleyed in with his right boot after his left-foot attempt was charged down from 10 yards. Bringing the game to the fifth minute of stoppages Amir Rrahmani’s header was acrobatically fingertipped over the bar. Watch football highlights of Napoli win over Legia in the Europa League.
