Erik ten Hag believes Liverpool were “vulnerable” against Ajax

In the 1-0 Champions League loss on Wednesday, Erik ten Hag ruled bad luck and thought Liverpool were “vulnerable” against Ajax.

Ajax had their chances, but for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool in the Amsterdam clash in Group D the first-half goal of Nicolas Tagliafico was adequate.

In three games going into the match, for the first time since Virgil van Dijk sustained a severe knee injury on Saturday, Liverpool was winless, and inaction.

Ten Hag said he thought the giants of the Eredivisie could take advantage of the champions of the Premier League.

“It would have been a big bonus if we had taken one or more points,” the Ajax head coach said according to Goal.

“I think Liverpool was vulnerable. Unfortunately, we didn’t make the most of that.”

Ten Hag added: “We were unlucky. We performed well collectively. We were convincing, but that last one per cent was missing – we didn’t score even though we created many chances.”

“That’s the story of this game, I think.”
