England vs Denmark Euro 2020 semi-final prediction and lineup

In the second semi-final of Euro 2020 England welcomes Scandinavian surprise package Denmark to the capital for a chance to play in the final this summer. The tense match will be hosted at Wembley Stadium on Wednesday. In the quarterfinals the Three Lions crushed Ukraine 4-0 to reach the last four, while Denmark edged the Czech Republic 2-1. The winners will face either Italy or Spain in the final on July 11. Here is all you need to know about England vs Denmark Euro 2020 semi-finals prediction and lineup.

Team news

England lineup: Pickford; Walker, Stones, Maguire, Shaw; Rice, Phillips; Saka, Mount, Sterling; Kane

Dean Henderson will miss the match but England will not be concerned about suspensions as Harry Maguire, Declan Rice, Kalvin Phillips, and Kieran Trippier all avoided a second yellow card.

Gareth Southgate could use the 4-2-3-1 formation he utilized against Ukraine, but the question is who will play on the right.

Southgate may turn to Bukayo Saka on the right flank to try keep Joakim Maehle at bay,  although Jadon Sancho started Saturday’s rout.

Denmark lineup: Schmeichel; Vestergaard, Christensen, Kjaer; Stryger Larsen, Delaney, Hojbjerg, Maehle; Damsgaard, Dolberg, Braithwaite

In the game against the Czech Republic, Andreas Christensen was substituted late, but there is no reason to believe he will miss the match against England, and he should start in the back three for Denmark.

On Saturday evening, giving the Danes a boost both Yussuf Poulsen and Daniel Wass came off the bench.

Kasper Hjulmand may stick with the same starting lineup that beat the Czech Republic 2-1.

England vs Denmarl Prediction

In the quarter-finals England secured a 4-0 win over Ukraine and has begun to step up their game for the knockout stages after hardly getting out of second gear in the group stages. Denmark, on the other hand, should not be overlooked.

England was defeated 1-0 at Wembley in the UEFA Nations League last October when they had played last. For England, underestimating a country of Denmark’s stature would almost definitely be disastrous.

England’s attacking alternatives off the bench should help them get over the line and bring football closer to home while we expect Southgate’s tenacious defense to be broken at Euro 2020, as well as the Danes to have enough energy to take the game to extra time.

Our Prediction: England 2-1 Denmark
