Spectators could return to stadiums in England in October, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson declared on Friday.
To enter the fight against the virus more effectively, tests could begin by the end of this month Johnson announced, while meetings of a large number of people in the UK have been prevented since March due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“We will do pilot studies to bring more people together in places such as football stadiums so that they can reopen in the autumn. The plan is for fans to return to the stadiums in October, and conferences could be allowed and other business meetings,” Johnson said.
One of the pilot events will be the World Snooker Championship, which should start in Sheffield at the end of this month, as well as two cricket matches and one-horse race.
