Premier League players and staff were tested in the new round of coronavirus testing, in which eight people resulted positive for COVID-19. People who had tested positive for coronavirus will self-isolate for 10 days.
“The Premier League may today announce that 1,575 players and club personnel were screened for Covid-19 between Monday 12 October and Sunday 18 October. Of these, there were eight new positive samples,” the Premier League said in a statement.
A total of 42 individuals have tested positive for the virus in seven rounds of testing, since the latest initiative started on September 12.
Five positive outcomes were shown in the previous round, while there were nine and 10 positives before that.
According to a Reuters tally, in the United Kingdom, there were more than 750,000 Covid-19 infections and over 43,000 deaths.
