Jose Mourinho deserves “a lot of praise” to guiding Tottenham to sixth place, according to Darren Bent, who claims the tactics of the Spurs boss are “clearly effective”.
“What an accomplishment it is for them to finish sixth this year. We’re well out of the chase so Mourinho’s had to take a ton of credit to get back into it,” the longtime Tottenham player told Football Insider.
“He understands full well that they ought to perform well this season, and he’ll keep a view on who he likes and the positions he needs so first and foremost we’ll have to send him a round of appreciation to tell well-done work.”
“The amazing fact that since he took the role, no boss has played more games than Mourinho, other than Klopp and Guardiola, it’s an unbelievable reputation-no matter what football he’s playing, it’s obviously effective.”
“He’s done a very, very nice job and I hope that next season, they’ll be great. To any of their stars, Harry Kane’s likes, it’s a very large season-what will he do this season given the determination he shows? For him, this is a truly, truly big year.”
“First and foremost, they need to go to find some players but I completely anticipate them to be much stronger next season once Mourinho gets a full summer in.”
