Roma owner Dan Friedkin is disappointed with the team’s performance under head coach Paulo Fonseca this season, Corriere dello Sport.
On Matchday 27 of Serie A, the Romans were beaten 0-2 by Parma and dropped their place in the top-four. Now they are sitting in 6th place, 2 points behind fourth-placed Atalanta.
The future of Fonseca at Roma largely depends on qualifying for the Champions League next season. In Serie A, top-four sides qualify directly for the UEFA Champions League.
Roma has shortlisted Massimiliano Allegri and Maurizio Sarri for the head coaching job. Friedkin’s entourage is also considering several candidates from outside Italy.
Fonseca is willing to continue his job with Roma, with his contract automatically renewed if he reaches the Champions League. Since 2019 the Portuguese have been coaching the team.
