Arsenal is anxious to withdraw Mesut Ozil’s heavy paycheck from the wage bill, and some significant interest has been registered by Fenerbahçe to land him in January.
This season, the 32-year-old has been left off the roster of registered players for Mikel Arteta’s Premier League and Europa League squads, and his Emirates Stadium spell seems to be coming to an end.
Side MLS D.C. United, as they look to snatch him from under the noses of Turkish giants Fenerbahçe, are the new club to be linked with a move for Arsenal outsider Mesut Özil.
Yet other future suitors would have to fend them off. D.C. United are now in pole position to sign Özil in the forthcoming transfer window, according to Turkish outlet DHA, and the former German international is not against the possibility of a move across the Atlantic.
