Croatia defeated Slovenia leading the Group H

In the football match of the 6th round of Group H of the qualifications for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Croatia defeated Slovenia 3-0 (1-0). Marko Livaja (33), Mario Pašalić (66), and Nikola Vlašić (90 + 4) were the scorers for Croatia’s fourth victory in these qualifiers.

Croatia dominated against Slovenia in front of 16,237 spectators at Poljud, from the first to the last minute, and retaliated for the unpleasant defeat from the start of the qualifications in March in Ljubljana. Croatian coach Zlatko Dalic decided to send the favourite of the Split audience and Hajduk striker Livaja to the field from the first minute, and that move proved to be a complete goal because it was Livaja who scored the first goal in the 33rd minute.

At the beginning of the action, Brozović reacted excellently, winning the ball about 30 meters from the Slovenian goal and employing Juranović on the right flank, followed by a cross on Pašalić’s head, but he hit the goalpost from five meters. Fortunately, the ball hit the head of Livaja, who concentrated on hitting the undefended part of the net.

In the 66th minute, Pašalić increased the lead to 2-0 in the middle of the second half. In the fourth minute of overtime the final 3-0 was set by Vlašić when he flew through the air and headed Oršić’s cross into the net.

After six rounds, Croatia has 13 points, the same as Russia, which defeated Malta 2-0 in Moscow on Tuesday, while Slovenia fell to fourth place with seven points. In the 7th round, Croatia will play in Cyprus on October 8th. Watch football highlights of World Cup qualifiers in which Croatia defeated Slovenia.
