Cristiano surpassed 759 goal mark scoring a goal against Napoli in Juve win

This was the typical match between the winners of the Scudetto and Coppa Italia, but also a repeat of the Coppa Italia Final in June, when, after a 0-0 draw, Napoli defeated Juve on penalties. After 90 minutes, extra time or penalties, the cup should be assigned.

While Wojciech Szczesny fumbled with Danilo after falling into a tangle, the snapshot of Cristiano Ronaldo was deflected over, but Giorgio Chiellini got it away.

On 29 minutes, when Diego Demme’s cross hit a Chucky Lozano diving header from six yards, the first big opening was for Napoli, Szczesny making a desperate reaction save.

Ronaldo curled just past the far top corner, but while Juve had more of the ball in the first half, Napoli had the best chance.

At the last second, Ospina and Kostas Manolas got into a misunderstanding, allowing Ronaldo to creep up and prod the ball away, but the shot went wide.

It was a historic goal, his 760th between club and country in official senior games, surpassing the 759 mark set by Josef Bican.

As he snuck up behind McKennie, Dries Mertens came on and made an instant difference, and the American kicked his ankle instead of the ball. The penalty was, ultimately, after seeing it on VAR. Insigne stood up for what would have been his 100th goal for Napoli, but sent the wrong direction to Szczesny and put the spot-kick high.

Federico Chiesa had an ankle injury, but at half-time, Federico Bernardeschi came on and nearly scored inside a minute. He had his toes from point-blank range to the Weston McKennie low cross, but David Ospina managed to smother it right on the line.

Juve started to swarm and the pressure paid off, as Manolas risked an own goal first with a shinned clearance, then bounced off Tiemoue Bakayoko on the ensuing corner, turning into an ideal assist for Ronaldo to shoot in from six yards.

It was still not done, as a deflection nearly had it level in stoppages, but Szczesny stood out a foot to parry from point-blank range.

Juve then went on the counter from the Napoli corner with Cuadrado and Alvaro Morata turned into the empty net with the last kick of the game.
