The clock ticks to the FIFA World Cup 2022 as now only almost a year is left for the competition. For this, preparations are almost nearing completion at the stadium in Qatar. This will be the 22nd edition of this tournament. The group stage matches of the FIFA World Cup 2022 will last for 12 days in which four matches will be played daily. The football tournament will begin on November 21 at the Al Bayt Stadium. The final will be played on 18 December at the Lusail Stadium.
To ensure that the European season is not affected much, the tournament will run for 28 days, compared to 32 days as the previous tournament in Russia. Eight venues around Doha will be used for this tournament. Teams and fans will not need to travel from one place to another by plane to watch the match. For the convenience of the fans, stadiums have been built within a radius of 30 miles.
Matches during the tournament will begin at 3:30 pm local Indian time. Group matches will be held at 3:30, 6:30, 9:30, and 00:30 IST (Indian Standard Time). The knockout matches will take place from 8:30 and 00:30. There will be no break between the group stage and the pre-quarterfinal matches. Most teams will get three days’ rest in between matches.
FIFA is planning to hold the tournament draw in late March 2022 or early April 2022. By then 30 out of 32 teams playing in the finals will be decided. This is the last World Cup, in which 32 teams are participating. After this, 48 countries will participate in the 2026 World Cup to be jointly hosted by America, Canada, and Mexico.
