CONMEBOL has announced the Copa America 2021 team of the tournament. The South American football tournament ended on Sunday after matches played throughout a month. Argentina lifted the prestigious Copa America Cup defeating Brazil 1-0 in the final. Paris Saint-Germain’s midfielder Angel Di Maria helped Argentina to end their 28 years of wait.
While Argentina emerged as the champions, some players put on brilliant individual performances. Four La Albiceleste players Emiliano Martinez, Cuti Romero, Rodrigo De Paul, and Lionel Messi are named in the team of the tournament. Runner-up Brazil has three players in the team and they include PSG defender Marquinhos, midfielder Casemiro, and Neymar Jr.
The official Tournament Team included a Serie A player, Udinese midfielder Rodrigo De Paul, who impressed in the Final and assisted on the game-winning goal. During the competition, De Paul was a Udinese player, but he has now joined Atletico Madrid.
Atalanta defender Romero was doubtful for the big game due to an injury, but he gritted his teeth and played, further enhancing his reputation after a strong season in Bergamo.
