Argentine Football Association president Claudio Tapia has stated that due to a red card given out in 2019 Lionel Messi will not miss any games for his country.
“The entire thing is set for Brazil, there’s no doubt,” he said.
“I hope the VAR and the referees will not take any role in the final and that Peru will be able to participate but it seems to me difficult. I didn’t want to be part of this corruption; we shouldn’t be part of the humiliation that we experienced during Copa America.”
“We should have gone deeper but we weren’t invited into the final. Corruption, referees, and the rest stopped people from enjoying football. I’m always telling the truth and I’m honest, that’s what makes me calm if what I’m doing has consequences that are not my problem.”
“I guess this is because of what I said [against Brazil], what happened. Maybe what I said last time came back to haunt me.”
