Claudio Pizarro apologized for not playing the last game

Within relegation play-off matches a day before Werder carried out a return duel against Heidenheim.

The last match of their career was the return match for Peruvian forward Claudio Pizarro. Following the two-match confrontation, they retained residency in the Bundesliga.

The 41-year-old forward spent the whole game on the bench. To accept the honors from the teammates, Pizarro entered the field after the final scroll.

Kohfeldt was questioned the end of Pizarro’s career as a player in the first division, to which he replied to reporters.

“He is awesome. After the game, I was with him as well and made an apology for not being able to bring him in his last game.”

“Unfortunately, that was simply not the case. But he claimed it didn’t matter, the important issue being we weren’t getting relegated.”

In Werder’s history, Pizarro remains the best striker scoring 153 goals and in Bundesliga history (197 goals), he ranks sixth on the list of top strikers.
