Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell sustained an ankle injury earlier this week during the club’s 3-0 victory over West Ham, as a result, he is likely to be out for the remainder of the calendar year.
The rarely seen Emerson Palmieri replaced Chilwell barely ten minutes into the West-East London Derby.
The ankle scan carried out has not shown any severe damage or signs of breaking, and mild ligament damage is the most likely concern, according to the Daily Telegraph.
That could put his recovery at an estimated two weeks, meaning that until January he would be out.
Chelsea is set to play Arsenal, Aston Villa and Manchester City in that time frame, with the latter game on January 3. Chilwell is then supposed to be fit by the time the Blues are scheduled to face Morecambe on 10 January in the third round of the FA Cup.
