Giorgio Chiellini is back to Italy with enjoyment and a 1-0 victory in the Netherlands did not surprise him.
“We were well trained for this game and we’ve been playing at a high level for the last two years,” the captain told RAI Sport.
“After so many months of lockdown and a strange summer, it wasn’t easy to get back on track. We won against a fantastic team, and we probably deserved a few more goals.”
“When we get tired at the end, we’ve also done well to protect ourselves, because that’s part of the game, too, sometimes you have to roll up your sleeves.”
Following his previous ligament cruciate injury, this was Chiellini’s first Italian game in more than a year.
