Chelsea snatched a victory over Porto

Chelsea registered a 2-0 win over Porto in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals. The Blues knocked Porto with a late goal from Ben Chilwell.

Mateus Uribe from Porto took the first shot from the air, but the ball just missed the crossbar. 

Mason Mount delivered a classy goal to beat the Portuguese champions and became Chelsea’s youngest goalscorer in the Champions League at the age of 22.

Mount ran on to an incisive pass from Jorginho into the penalty area and with a powerful shot opened the scoring in the 32nd minute and score his first Champions League goal.

The hosts rushed to make up for the loss, but Sanusi was caught offside in a good situation and Cesar Azpilicueta responded with a poor center-back.

Jesus Manuel Corona’s impressive save in the 42nd minute was blocked. Later Pepe gave a great strike, but Edouard Mendy did even better. Porto fought hard in the first half but failed.

After the break, hosts tried to equalize but lacked accuracy as Luis Diaz’s ball missed the post in the 56th minute. Moussa Marega collapsed after clashing with Cesar Azpilicueta and Porto players demanded a penalty kick in the 72nd minute.

Just minutes before the end Ben Chilwell took advantage for the Londoners after needlessly passing the outgoing goalkeeper, he headed it into the net. With this Chelsea win over Porto in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-finals. The return leg will be played on 14th April, Wednesday, which will put the winning team in the semi-finals.
