In the La Liga match against Atletico (1-1), Real Madrid director Emilio Butragueño has expressed dissatisfaction with the performance of chief referee Alejandro Hernández.
At the end of the first half, in the penalty area, the ball hit Atletico defender Felipe. The referee did not award a penalty and the VAR system was used to evaluate the episode, but the referee’s decision was not altered.
“It’s a penalty. A key decision. The sequence was correct: after the VAR the referee was asked to watch the episode. But he decided it wasn’t a penalty. We were unlucky again with Hernandez,” Butragueño told Movistar+.
“As for the game, had it not been for Oblak, we would have won. The second half was fine.”
