Oliver Mintzlaff, CEO of RB Leipzig, gainsaid ubiquitous reports that this summer Chelsea consented to sign a contract with Timo Werner.
The blues triggered Werner’s £ 53.8 m release clause and agreed to a five-year deal worth £200,000 a week with the 24-year-old, suggested the reports this week.
However, Mintzlaff contradicted there had been any official offer from the side of Frank Lampard before the match between Leipzig and SC Paderborn last afternoon.
“We’ve still not had an exchange with Chelsea,” he told reporters.
“So far, Timo Werner has not drawn the clause, nor has a club sent a transfer contract.”
Werner was heavily linked with a move to Liverpool before the Chelsea reports emerged. He has scored 31 goals across all competitions this season.
