The 2019/20 season in the FA Cup final has been a successful campaign in general but it was a frustrating loss for the Blues to Arsenal.
Any of this recognition is not entirely deserved Darren Bent argues and reckons that question marks exist on whether he is the ideal man for the job at Chelsea.
Bent said on talkSPORT: “Frank Lampard has been lauded by many for the job he’s done this season. He’s talking through the youngsters … but he’s been forced to do so.”
“People have often made excuses for him; sure, he offered them a chance [academy players] and they took it, so I hope next season would be entirely different. Are all of these players going to sign, will the youth players get more opportunities next season?”
“That’s going to be pressure in itself because the people in authority are going to be like ‘hold on, you’ve been forced to do it last season, where are this season’s youngsters? ’ It’s an open checkbook, whoever they want they can sign. Do those players even have the opportunities?”
