Bayern Munich joined the race for Max Aarons

Bayern Munich was linked to a move for Norwich City full-back Max Aarons, as the German champions join the race for the England U21 international.

This season despite his relegation from the Premier League, the 20-year-old has been on the radar of a host of top clubs having impressed Carrow Road.

He was also a key component of the team that got last campaign promotion.

Although Sportsmail understands that Spurs’ interest has cooled late, the Hammersmith-born defender was linked to a return to London, with Arsenal and Tottenham arch-rivals both interested in the youth.

According to Sky Sports Austria, as the German champions look to bolster their squad, Bayern officials are weighing up a move for Aarons.

Benjamin Pavard has nailed a starting spot at the right-back, but Hans-Dieter Flick is looking for an appropriate back-up option and, given his young age, Aarons could then grow into this role.

The report goes on to suggest that Bayern Munich could cash in £18 m for the youngster but the asking price is as much as £27 m if Premier League survival had been secured by the Canaries.
