Barcelona’s stadium will have a formal name for the first time in its 63-year history since the team has confirmed plans to auction the rights for the next season and give over profits to charitable initiatives and the battle against coronavirus, according to The Guardian report.
Presently Camp Nou is the enormous football stadium in Europe, it was inaugurated in 1957 since then The camp Nou was the de facto name of Barca’s stadium.
Over the coming weeks, the club expects to find a sponsor and want to spend part of the sum on charities participating in COVID-19’s investigation. Club has quoted that they would surrender the title rights to the charitable fund of the team, which will manage the operation.
The initiative is a perfect match with their statement that they are “more than a club” and that they want to “create a wave of optimism for millions of citizens across the world who are suffering from this pandemic.” says Barcelona
A statement identified this as a “world unprecedented crisis” during which Barcelona will “assume responsibility’.
