Spain’s leading football club Barcelona has signed EPL club Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero of Argentina on a free transfer. The 32-year-old striker underwent a medical test in Spain on Monday. Aguero played his last match for City in the Champions League against Chelsea. That match was lost by City 1–0.
Manchester City striker Sergio Agüero will officially change clubs at the end of the season. The Argentine has signed a two-year contract with Barcelona, which runs until the summer of 2023. It will come into force on July 1. Agüero leaves City on a free agent after 10 years at the English club.
Barcelona confirmed the news and welcomed their new member of the team. “WELCOME TO CAMP NOU” “Let’s play”.
Barcelona said on Monday, FC Barcelona and Sergio Aguero have signed a mutual agreement. He will join the club from 1 July. His contract with Manchester City will expire in July. He will sign a contract until the end of the 2022–23 season and his buyout clause is set at 100 million euros.
Aguero took over his official Instagram handle telling his followers about his next move. He wrote: “With the commitment and passion of always, now # Barça 🔵 🔴 Visit Barça !!”
The Argentine reunites with his old friend Lionel Messi in Barcelona. Messi’s future remains uncertain as he has not confirmed on any agreement yet while his contract will expire in June end. But with the arrival of Sergio Agüero, it is speculated that the 33-year-old will extend his stay at Camp Nou.
Aguero spent five years in La Liga with Atletico Madrid starting 2006 until 2011, when he moved to the city for an alleged fee of £ 35 million. He scored a club-record 260 goals in 389 appearances in all competitions during a glorious decade in Manchester. He is one of the greatest players of not only City but also of EPL.
