Barca expecting modest price tag for Martinez

Goal reports that the Liga giants Barcelona are eager to reach an arrangement for Argentine but has no intention to cash in €111 million (£100m/$125 m) for release clause of Inter’s Lautaro Martinez deal.

Earlier questioned about the rumored interest that Barca has in Lautaro, Club President Josep Maria Bartomeu replied RAC1: “I’m not concerned about transactions. We didn’t mark the contracts in the calendar for when they will be done.”

Meanwhile, the Series A outfit “does not want to sell their champions unless the player wants to leave,” Inter Chief Executive Giuseppe Marotta told DAZN.

Barca believes that an agreement can be reached but, they see the asking price of the 22-year-old as considerably lower than his current mark, taking into account the financial implications of the coronavirus pandemic.

They were busy working together preparations for some summer company behind the scenes, with Goal announcing back in April that a lucrative deal for Lautaro is being planned.

The Catalans are hoping these terms will help their cause, in the next window the club being unable to splash €111 m on one player even if they desired to.

Barca’s idea is to lower the price tag for Lautaro, with the player being understood to be open for talks to be transferred.
