In Sunday’s season-opening 4-0 victory over Villarreal, the influence of Ansu Fati pleased the Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman, but as he disclosed pre-season worries the Dutch coach tempered the hype surrounding the teenager.
“We must highlight Ansu Fati’s game and results,” Koeman told reporters.
“Last week, I worried a little about him not getting the maximum performance standard in the pre-season.”
“He’s just 17 years old and he’s going to have a wonderful career, but he must improve. He needs a bit of focus sometimes.”
“One of my complaints was that he was not successful in the friendly against Elche. Today he was. His strength was immense out wide, he played a fantastic game and we took advantage of his quality.”
