Arsenal won’t give up on Orkun

Feyenoord has extended Orkun Kokcu’s deal who was linked to Arsenal. The 21-year-old was rumored to move to Emirates, to end that he signed a five-year contract.

“Orkun has developed very well last season and has made great strides in its still young career,” said Feyenoord technical director Frank Arnesen. “We would like to reward him for that. Moreover, it is very nice for us that we are able to bind such a talented player to us for longer. “

The Turkey U21 international was closely linked to a move to the Emirates. Kokcu was believed as a substitute for Mesut Ozil’s aging and we described the discrepancies and similarities between two players.

Contracting a new deal normally means asserting a zeal to remain in the club longer, so now Mikel Arteta will probably have to overlook the Feyenoord guy for some time.

It does not mean that Arsenal will not sign the midfielder as the contract has been extended, but the club is expected to proceed to track the evolution of the youth.

In the near future, the Haarlem-born man is unlikely to transfer to the Emirates, leaving Arsenal in the midfield with a gaping creativity problem and just Academy product Emile Smith Rowe as the successor to Ozil.
