After replacing Philippe Coutinho as number seven in Barcelona, Antoine Griezmann will wear his favorite number in the 2020-21 season.
Antoine Griezmann described it as “a privilege” as he finally got the Barcelona number seven shirt he wanted from the day one of his Camp Nou career.
After arriving in Barcelona in July 2019, the former Atletico Madrid forward was denied his usual number and he chose to wear the 17 shirt as 7 was worn by Philippe Coutinho.
But with Coutinho loaning for last season to Bayern Munich and question marks as to whether the winger will stay for the new campaign in Barcelona, the Brazilian has ceded the number to Griezmann.
On Instagram, Griezmann wrote: “It is an honor to wear the 7 at Barca!”

He added: “I want to say thank you to @phil.coutinho, who as well as being a great player is a big friend.”
Barcelona posted a video on their social media accounts revealing the number switch.
The video features Brooklyn Nets NBA star Kevin Durant opening a box that includes Barcelona number seven shirts bearing his name and Griezmann’s name.
