Goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu of the Indian football team has said that the result of international friendly matches in March in Dubai will not affect the qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup and the 2023 AFC Asia Cup for China starting on June 3. The Indian team, who returned after a long break due to Covid, played a 1–1 draw from Oman in two international friendly matches in March but suffered a 0–6 defeat at the hands of the UAE.

Sandhu said, “The less we think about those matches, the better. It is a thing of the past. But it is important to remember what happened because it shows which departments we need to work in. We have three blank slates in front of us and it is up to us what to write on them.”

India will play against the Asian Champions Qatar on June 3, against Bangladesh on June 7 and against Afghanistan on June 15. These three matches will be played at the Jassim bin Hamad Stadium in Doha.

Glenn Martins of FC Goa is the only player in the 28-man probable squad selected for the camp, which is included in the National Team Camp for the first time. India currently has three points from three matches in Group-E.

Defender Pritam Kotal said, “The circumstances in Dubai and Doha are completely different. In Dubai we played two matches with two different teams. We then made a comeback to international football after about 16 months. These two matches gave us opportunity to work on all the negative aspects. The results in June will definitely be favorable to us. “

Indian striker Manveer Singh said that the mixed result in Dubai will help the team in Doha.

Writing about football is one of my favorite things to do. As a football writer, I love the rush of being in the stadium on game day and watching all the action live. It's like no other feeling for me. I'm passionate about writing about it, but until recently I've been doing it as a hobby rather than a profession.
