Fabrizio Romano suggests Chelsea is interested in Marcus Thuram. Marcus Thuram of Borussia Monchengladbach is a target for Chelsea in the January transfer window. This season, the Frenchman has performed admirably for the German club, recording 13 goals and four assists in 17 games across all competitions. The Blues have reportedly begun negotiations to bring the 25-year-old to Stamford Bridge in January, according to transfer analyst Fabrizio Romano.

In the summer, Thuram’s deal with Monchengladbach will expire, and he might leave the team for nothing. However, Chelsea is trying to sign him in January to avoid the competition. Romano commented on the Blues’ enthusiasm for Thuram “According to reports, Chelsea has started exploring a Marcus Thuram trade for January. Being a free agent in June, the French striker is on the radar of many elite clubs, and Chelsea is looking at terms for January.”

The west London club is currently tenth in the Premier League after having a terrible season. Seven fewer than any other side in the top 10, they have only scored 20 goals in 17 games. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, a summer acquisition, has only three goals in 16 appearances across competitions. Armando Broja, who had an ACL injury, will miss the entire season.

Therefore, Chelsea might make acquiring Thuram in January a top priority. Since moving from Guingamp in 2019, the Frenchman has played 119 games for Monchengladbach, tallying 41 goals and 26 assists. He also performed admirably for France against Argentina in the 2022 FIFA World Cup final, which was decided on penalties following a 3-3 stalemate in extra time. Les Bleus fell short in the shootout 4-2.
