Fabien Barthez, former goalkeeper of France has returned to Toulouse in a consultancy role for the rest of the season.
Barthez will work for the Ligue 2 club with Toulouse goalkeeper coach Patrice Garande and academy chief Denis Zanko, who made his professional debut with him in 1991.
After leaving Toulouse, Barthez went on to win the Champions League with Marseille the following year, and after claiming the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000 with Les Bleus he won two Premier League titles with Manchester United.
“I have been driven by my pure passion to invest myself in a consultancy role. I want to express and share my vision of this position in its entirety, for the goalkeepers of the first team and the academy, in collaboration with the technical staff,” Barthez said in a statement.
“I would like to thank [Damien] Comolli, President of the Management Team, and Patrice Garande, Rudy Riou, and Denis Zanko for their confidence and welcome.”
After the top-flight season was curtailed last April, Toulouse was relegated to Ligue 2.
The club sits ninth, three points adrift of the automatic promotion places after winning four of their opening 10 games.
