A brilliant goal from Andros Townsend gave Everton another comeback, while a win at Burnley leveled them on points with the top three in the Premier League. As Andros Townsend beat Nick Pope with an amazing goal, Everton smashed Burnley with a 3-1 match score.

Townsend, a free arrival in the summer, also set up a tie for Michael Keane, whose header canceled Ben Mee’s header finish in his 200th appearance for the Clarets. Five minutes later, Everton’s wing was marked with a 25m curling in the top corner to send Goodison into a frenzy.

He made even more improvisation for the home fans, as a minute later Abdoulaye Doucoure’s beautiful ball was found by Demarai Gray, who missed the third goal of the season to Nick Pope. He completed a surprise turnaround for Rafael Benítez’s side, which is now tied on 10 points with Manchester United, Chelsea, and Liverpool after an undefeated start to the campaign.

A dramatic play was also halted by moments of controversy when Mee was checked in by Richarlison, who had escaped punishment. Burnley defender James Tarkowski avenged the Brazilian with a bloody challenge to take the lead. But in both cases, referee Martin Atkinson admitted that there was no fault, let alone an additional penalty.

Benitez was particularly troubled by the attack from the Everton striker, who operated alone at the front in the absence of Dominic Calvert-Lewin. The England striker will miss two to three weeks with thigh and leg injuries. However, the Everton boss will be pleased that his team went through a tough encounter without their goal scorers as they started an interesting season.

Burnley is still looking for their first win and remains in 18th place with just one point. Watch football highlights as Everton smashed Burnley in the Premier League match.

Writing about football is one of my favorite things to do. As a football writer, I love the rush of being in the stadium on game day and watching all the action live. It's like no other feeling for me. I'm passionate about writing about it, but until recently I've been doing it as a hobby rather than a profession.
