What an incredible performance from the Rangers, then, who take a two-goal advantage into the home leg after a brilliant 4-2 victory away in Dortmund.
Kent showed sublime pieces of skill all game, and Morelos caused no end of troubles to the leaky Dortmund defence.
Bellingham and Guerreiro grabbed some consolation goals with fine strikes to avoid a complete embarrassment for the hosts, but they have thoroughly outplayed all game.
BORUSSIA DORTMUND (4-2-3-1): Gregor Kobel;
Dan-Axel Zagadou, Manuel Akanji, Mats Hummels, Raphael Guerreiro;
Mahmoud Dahoud, Axel Witsel;
Marco Reus, Jude Bellingham, Julian Brandt;
RANGERS (4-2-3-1): Allan McGregor;
Connor Goldson, Calvin Bassey, James Tavernier, Borna Barisic;
Ryan Jack, John Lundstram;
Ryan Kent, Scott Arfield, Joe Aribo;
1-0. Tavernier steps up, takes a short skip, and sends the keeper the wrong way! What a moment for him.
2-0. Tavernier whips in a great ball from the right. Aribo gets a flick on at the near post, and Morelos has a tap-in from a matter of inches. The few lucky Rangers fans let out a huge roar. They’re in dreamland.
3-0. Kent picks the ball up and drives at two men on the left flank. He jinks in and out and then sets up Lundstram on the edge of the box. He makes no mistake as he sweeps it into the far corner.
3-1. Dortmund have one back immediately. Moukoko surges into the box on the right, and as he’s tackled, the ball runs across the area. Guerreiro lays it back to Bellingham, who bends it expertly into the far corner.
4-1. Dortmund gives the ball away cheaply on the edge of their box, and the Rangers break with numbers. Aribo draws his man before slipping it through to Morelos. He hits his shot across the goal, and it looks to deflect slightly off Zagadou and into the far corner. However, the flag is up immediately, and there is a lengthy wait, but the goal is eventually given.
4-2. Bellingham lays the ball off to Guerreiro, and he takes a touch inside and then curls a sumptuous effort past the motionless McGregor and into the far corner.
So, where else do Borussia Dortmund and Rangers go from here?
The 1,000 or so travelling Rangers fans could scarcely believe what was unfolding in front of them for most of that game.
However, their side never let up, and even after going 4-1 ahead, they had chances to make it five or six.
Borussia Dortmund will be facing Borussia M’gladbach. Meanwhile, Ranger will face Dundee United.
