Wembley Stadium can hold 65000 spectators to watch the semi-finals and final matches of the European Football Championship, as UEFA is in talks with the British government in this regard. Sources said that the government has agreed to increase the number of spectators per match in the group stage from 22000 to 40000 in the last 16. It may increase further in the last three matches. Wembley football stadium can seat 90000 spectators.

In the last seven days in Britain, cases of corona infection have increased to 68449, due to which the third wave is being feared. Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi has also demanded to get the Euro 2020 final out of Britain after the infection rate increased in view of the Delta variant coming from India.

The Union of European Football Association (UEFA) has prepared an alternate plan for this match. Actually, the rule of compulsorily quarantined for 10 days is applicable to people coming from outside in Britain. UEFA has asked the UK government to relax this rule. If this does not happen, then the final of the Euro Cup can be held in some other city.

UEFA issued a statement saying that “there are always alternative plans in such tournaments but we are sure that the last week of the tournament will be in London. We can understand the pressure of the British government. We sincerely hope that our talks with the British Government will reach a satisfactory conclusion.”

In Britain from June 21, preparations were made to remove all the restrictions imposed regarding Corona. But in view of the increasing corona cases in the country, the government has postponed it for the time being. Two pre-quarterfinals of the Euro Cup, both the semi-finals and the final are to be played at Wembley Stadium in London. For the first time in the 60-year history of the tournament, the tournament is being held in 12 different cities.

Meanwhile, the Times newspaper reported on Friday that Budapest is being considered as an alternate venue for the final if outside visitors do not receive entry at Wembley. However, if the venue of the UEFA final changes in the last phase of the tournament, then it will be a really surprising decision. Budapest has four matches of Euro 2020 to be played and spectators are allowed in the stadium here. However, for this they have to show the negative report of Covid-19 along with this, proof of vaccination has to be given.
