Borussia Dortmund defender Thomas Meunier, who previously played for PSG, has spoken out about Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe in an interview with Ruhr.
– What are the differences between Mbappe and Haaland?
– You can’t compare them, they are completely different. They’re both fast, but that’s where the similarities end. Kylian looks for one-on-one situations, he has everything. He reminds me of Thierry Henry.
On the other hand, Erling is more of a killer [in the box], he can beat any goalkeeper in the world. He could be one of the best players in the world in the coming years. They will both be among the best players in the world when they are about 25 years old.
– What has made Haaland such a killer in the penalty box?
– I think it’s in his blood. He acts in a manner that is typical of old-school forwards. I really like that kind of striker.
He’s good with both feet, he can get better in head-to-head but, honestly, he’s only 20 years old and he’s got plenty of time to become one of the best in the world.
I really think in the next few years he will become something like Robert Lewandowski or Romelu Lukaku and score 25-30 goals a season. He will be one of the best.
Mbappe, 22, has scored 16 goals in 20 games in Ligue 1 this season. Haaland has 14 goals in 15 games in the Bundesliga.
