The Germans had an amazing start to their game against Iceland in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. After the opening seven minutes, the Germans lead the game with 2-0.
With a beautiful first-ball shot Leon Goretzka opened the scoring that beat the rivals’ goalkeeper. Kai Havertz quickly added to the lead.
Hannes Halldorsson had no chance with his shot from the edge of the penalty area. Germany dominated and created more opportunities. They were on the ball 77 percent of the time in the first half and did not allow their opponents to take a single shot.
Ilkay Gundogan increased Germany’s lead in the 56th minute. He scored his ninth goal for the national team with a powerful shot. The score did not change until the end of the match. Our western neighbors have made a successful start to their World Cup qualification campaign.
