Cavani’s dream move to Man City can be made possible by City

The future of Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani could hinge on Manchester City’s transfer market actions.

Last summer, Cavani had been tipped to leave Man Utd but signed a new deal with the club amid promises of more game time.

However, the arrival of Ronaldo in August has pushed the Uruguay international forward into the shadows at Old Trafford.

He has managed only 11 hours of football and two goals in all competitions this season.

Cavani, then, wants a route out of the club to be in top condition for the 2022 World Cup, which begins in November.

Additionally, he wants to be closer to his family in South America.

And nearly completed a move to Boca Juniors in the summer to allow him to do this.

While there is no prospect of a move in January, Cavani could be on his way in the summer.

And Manchester City could have a big part to play in that.

City, after all, are seriously considering a move for River Plate’s Julian Alvarez.

He has been making headlines his season thanks to his prolific numbers.

It is reported that Pep Guardiola’s side are ready to trigger the player’s €25 million minimum fee release clause.

If the Premier League leaders were successful in that pursuit.

It would allow the Argentine outfit to have the funds required to sign Cavani.

He would still have to take a significant pay cut from his €300,000 per week Man Utd salary to head back to South America.

He is, nevertheless, thought to be willing to accept that risk.

Cavani is out of contract with Man Utd at the end of the current campaign.

And it appears highly improbable that he will remain with the club beyond June, by which time he will have turned 35.

In Conclusion, Cavani’s time at Man Utd has been successful, but he feels homesick at Old Trafford.
