Former Liverpool striker John Barnes believes the way Manchester United won the Premier League at the time of Alex Ferguson, the current Red squad will not be able to dominate in the same way.
“Defending the title is very difficult, but Liverpool does not defend it. They will fight for every match, so Jurgen Klopp will not put pressure on the players because of trophies. “
“He wants them to win matches. Take every game as it is – this is an old cliché. Dominating English football like Liverpool in the 1980s or Manchester United under Ferguson is difficult for any team, including Liverpool,” said Barnes.
“Every year, any team from the top 6 can spend 200-300 million pounds and get qualified football players to fight for victory in the Premier League,” he added.
“Now it will be difficult to dominate because of money. Premier League teams can spend a lot to be more competitive next season. I do not think that we will see another team that would dominate the way Manchester United under Ferguson.”
