Goals from Cristiano Ronaldo and Jesse Lingard and a last-minute penalty saved by David Gea helped Manchester United beat West Ham United 2–1 at home in the English Premier League (EPL) following our on-point football prediction. In this way, with four wins and one draw from five matches played in the EPL, Manchester United is now third in the points table with 13 points.
At the London Stadium in West Ham’s home ground, Ronaldo was greeted by fans as he entered the field for Manchester United. The Red Devils began to build pressure from the first half of the match, but in the 30th minute, West Ham’s first goal was scored by Said Benrahma with a direct kick from outside the box, and Manchester United goalkeeper David Gea was dodged.
Just five minutes later, in the 35th minute for Manchester United after West Ham took a 1–0 lead, their star player Cristiano Ronaldo directed the ball towards the goal post on Bruno Fernandez’s cross, but Hammer’s goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski hit the ball with his hands. Unable to take possession of the ball, Ronaldo swung the ball again, scoring an equalizer for Manchester United to make the score 1-1.
Thus, it was Ronaldo’s fourth such goal in the last three matches in which he had to try again to send the ball inside the goal post. He had earlier scored similar goals against Newcastle in the EPL and Young Boys in the UEFA Champions League.
In the second half, both teams again took the field at a 1-1 draw, and Ronaldo, Paul Pogba and Mason Greenwood began to build up the pressure for Manchester United. Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made two changes in the team in the 73rd minute and sent Jadon Sancho in place of Paul Pogba to Jesse Lingard and Mason Greenwood. This benefited the team and Lingard scored a brilliant goal from inside the box in the 89th minute for Manchester United and the team took a 2-1 lead.
However, in injury time (90+2nd minute) of the match, United’s Luke Shaw accidentally hit the ball and West Ham got a penalty. But Westham’s Mark Noble failed to score a penalty and United’s goalkeeper David Gea made a brilliant defense to give the team a 2–1 victory. Westham scored 13 goals during the match, while United converted two of the total of 17 shots.
