Emiliano Martinez is impressed by Arsenal star Martinelli. Arsenal attacker Gabriel Martinelli‘s performance in the Gunners’ 3-1 victory over West Ham United on Boxing Day delighted Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez (26 December). The Brazilian scored as the Gunners continued where they left off seven weeks ago in the Premier League.

After the break, goals from Bukayo Saka, Martinelli, and Eddie Nketiah strengthened Arsenal’s lead over the competition and offset Said Benrahma’s first-half penalty. Martinelli celebrated his score during the game and afterward shared a photo of it on Instagram with the remark, “Back to work [salute emoji].”

Martinez, a former Gunner who most recently helped Argentina win the 2022 FIFA World Cup, expressed his admiration for his old teammate in the comments section. “Crack [fire emoji],” he wrote. Saka and Reiss Nelson, Martinelli’s current teammates, left supportive messages for the forward after he scored his sixth league goal of the season on Monday. The Brazilian has established himself as a key player for Arsenal, taking up residence on the left side of their front three.

The world stage has taken note of Martinelli’s ascent to fame; this year, former Brazil head coach Tite has called him up six times. The kid was a member of the Canaries team that competed in the 2022 FIFA World Cup, however, he only played 111 minutes and made one start. Martinelli will undoubtedly have a bigger position in the team if he keeps putting on strong performances, though.

Arsenal once again proved their title credentials against West Ham by coming back strongly after falling down 1-0. After a lengthy layoff, many predicted that the Gunners would struggle against the Hammers and lose ground.

However, after a sluggish first half, Arteta’s team turned it on and dispatched their London rivals with a cool-headed performance. Saka and Martinelli, two players who have excelled this season, each scored one goal, and Eddie Nketiah scored his first Premier League goal of the year. Gabriel Jesus was not missed as the three stars all scored goals in the span of 16 minutes. Due to a knee injury, the Brazilian has been out until March.
