Czech Republic defeated Netherlands as they register a spot in Euro 2020 quarter-finals

Czech Republic has become the third team to reach the quarter-finals of Euro 2020 after the team defeated the Netherlands 2-0 in the round of 16 match. However, the Netherlands had to play with 10 players after 55 minutes. The Czech Republic got the benefit of this. The team will now face Denmark, who defeated Wales 4-0, in the quarter-finals. 

Both teams could not score in the first half of the match played in Budapest. In the 55th minute of the match, Matthias de Light of the Netherlands was shown a red card for poor play. After this, the team had to play with 10 players in the remaining match. Tomas Holes scored in the 68th minute to give Czech Republic a 1-0 lead. After this, Patrick Schitch scored in the 80th minute to give the team an unassailable 2-0 edge. The Netherlands team could not qualify in 2016. The team also won the tournament title in 1992. But in the current season, the team got out of the group stage itself.

The Czech Republic team is playing in the tournament for the 10th time. Out of this, the team has reached the quarter-finals 7 times. The team also won the tournament title in 1976. The team was also the runner up in 1996. In the 3 league matches of the current season, the team won one. One was defeated, while one match was drawn. The team won 2–0 against Scotland.
