Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo was blown away by Belgium in Sevilla on Sunday night after his team was pulled out of UEFA Euro 2020. Thorgan Hazard scored in the 42nd minute which made the difference. The 36-year-old may have played his last Euro 2020 and Ronaldo was further saddened by the loss. After blowing the final whistle, Ronaldo threw his arm splint on the field and looked disappointed on Portugal’s exit from Euro 2020.

It was a heartbreaking moment for all Ronaldo fans around the world. And during Euro 2020, Ronaldo was in terrific scoring form and was expected to become the leading international top scorer of all time. He only needed one goal to pass Ali Daei, but he would have to wait. In a match against France, the Juventus striker leveled Irani striker Daei’s record of 109 international goals.

Romelu Lukaku looked to console Ronaldo after losing to Portugal in a heart-warming gesture. Fans are already loving this moment. Coach Fernando Santos said Portugal’s players cried in the locker room after a 1-0 exit from Euro, admitting the defending champions should have moved on after dominating a large part of the game.

The Portuguese made 24 attempts in front, compared to a six in Belgium, and also hit the wood. Belgium’s Thorgan Hazard had to watch the rest of the game from the sidelines after twisting his ankle in 42 minutes of play.

Santos said, “The ball just won’t go in. We are very disappointed and saddened. Players are crying in the locker room, as will many Portuguese. The players gave everything they had to offer, they worked hard. But this is football. They (Belgium) hit six shots, one on goal, I had 24 shots and hit the bar.”
