Cody Gakpo echoes his Liverpool debut in FA Cup. On Saturday, January 7, Cody Gakpo made his Liverpool debut during the team’s FA Cup match against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Anfield. However, the Dutchman was unable to lead his squad to victory as the team was forced to settle for a 2-2 draw.

He spent 84 minutes on the field and significantly contributed to Mohamed Salah’s goal. He immediately entered the game, switching well with Andy Robertson and projecting danger on the left wing. He was excited to begin his Reds career, and Wolves goalkeeper Matija Sarkic successfully stopped one of his opening shots.

The 23-year-old was quiet to begin the second half before exploding for Liverpool’s second goal. His pass caught Toti Gomes off guard, and the Wolves defender struggled to clear it but failed, allowing Salah the chance to score.

Gakpo declared that he was generally satisfied with his debut after the game. “Really wonderful atmosphere for my first home game,” he said to LFCTV. I believe I displayed both strong and weak points. I can still do better on that topic, therefore I’ll keep working hard and do whatever I can to support the team.

Darwin Nunez’s goal was appreciated by Gakpo, who commented: “Great cross and a great finish, I suppose with the left in the far corner. Excellent goal. However, Jurgen Klopp was unimpressed with how transparent his squad was throughout the game. No matter how you play, you must overcome obstacles. There isn’t any other option. I can see how it would appear open at times, but it’s really merely open because we often mistakenly believe we have overcome a challenge. After that, dealing with it is incredibly difficult.”
