Chelsea continued their unbeaten start to the 2021/22 campaign as they beat Tottenham 3-0 away from home after a similar football prediction. A minute’s applause was held at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to commemorate the earlier passing of former ‘Spurs’ and Chelsea striker Jimmy Greaves. Once play got underway, the clash developed at a wild pace with both hosts and guests creating chances. Neither of the sides managed to score in the first half.
Chelsea’s dominant performance in the second half was rewarded with an easy 3-0 win over London rivals Tottenham Hotspur for Thiago Silva, N’Golo Kante and Antonio Rudiger, who sent them into the Premier League on Sunday. The strong score probably didn’t show in the first half, as the hosts’ energetic performance allowed them to take on Chelsea. But when the Blues got a few more gears after the break, the Spurs didn’t react.
Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel’s decision to replace Mason Mount with Kante at the break proved a headache, as the French midfielder helped the visitors regain control and ease in a win that sent an ominous warning into the race for the title.
Thiago’s header gave Chelsea the lead in the 49th minute and the hosts had no way of returning when Kante’s slanted shot passed through Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris. Antonio Rüdiger added a third goal in an injury time while Chelsea claimed another victory – Thomas Tuchel’s men now sit joint-top of the Premier League table with Liverpool and Manchester United, with both teams scoring 13 points in five matches, both scoring 12 goals and conceding one.
