Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana shares an update on his injury. Wesley Fofana, a defender for Chelsea, provided an update on his injuries during Tuesday’s friendly matchup with Brentford (December 20). During the game played behind closed doors, the Frenchman hurt his knee and had to be replaced. Fofana responded to a fan page on Instagram by writing: “Nothing negative champion is not even one month, we’re back to break everything,” indicating that he should be able to resume playing in January.

The center-back was only recently back from a knee injury he sustained in October against AC Milan, so it still comes as a setback. During the break before the 2022 FIFA World Cup, he worked out with the group at their camp in Abu Dhabi. He will now, however, be absent once more for at least a few weeks.

Fofana moved to Chelsea from Leicester City in the summer for £75 million, although he has only played six times for the team. In the meanwhile, Kai Havertz scored a hat-trick as the Blues defeated Brentford 5-1 in the friendly. Reece James made his FIFA World Cup comeback during the game after missing it due to an injury.

Armando Broja, a striker for Chelsea, is already out for the season after tearing his ACL during a friendly match against Aston Villa. Tuesday’s Premier League match between Graham Potter’s team and Bournemouth will mark the start of their season (December 27). They are 16 points behind league leaders Arsenal in ninth place.

According to 90min, the west London club is eager to finalize a move for RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol. Liverpool, Manchester United, and Tottenham Hotspur are also very interested in the center-back, as are Manchester City and Real Madrid. At the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Gvardiol, 20, was among the greatest young players and helped Croatia finish third. With 65 appearances under his belt, he has distinguished himself as one of RB Leipzig’s most promising prospects.

Recently, Gvardiol discussed the possibility of joining Chelsea, the team for which his countryman Mateo Kovacic currently competes: “It’s a big club, of course, and, who knows, maybe one day I will be there. It’s incredibly good to witness instances like this, particularly given that Kovacic is present and you never know. I speak to him. At the age of 20, just being present at this major event is a significant deal for me, so I’m content. I need to consider that. Christopher Nkunku, a colleague of Gvardiol’s at his club, is supposedly already a Chelsea player and will sign with them in the summer.
