Championship Team rated for all position players. WhoScored.com’s October Sky Bet Championship Team of the Month includes players from Birmingham, Blackpool, Bristol City, Burnley, Coventry, Huddersfield, Reading, Rotherham, Sheffield United, and Watford. It’s time to evaluate the month of October and compile the Team of the Month. This WhoScored.com best XI for October features players from teams like Sheffield United, Watford, and Burnley, among others, who have made four or more appearances.

Goalkeeper:

Viktor Johansson (Rotherham) – 7.12 rating: Viktor Johansson was by far the busiest goalie in the Championship last month, making 40 saves—at least 12 more than any other goalkeeper. A record for a Championship game this season, Rotherham’s 1-0 victory at Stoke featured 11 of those goals, and the Swede is in goal with a WhoScored.com rating of 7.12.

Center-back:

Michal Helik (Huddersfield) – 7.39 rating: More than any other player in October, Michal Helik received three WhoScored.com Man of the Match accolades for his performances against Hull, Middlesbrough, and Millwall for Huddersfield. Helik contributed to the division’s second-highest number of clearances in October (43) and a WhoScored.com rating of 7.39.

Center-back:

Auston Trusty (Birmingham) – 7.30 rating: Birmingham’s Auston Trusty, who has a WhoScored.com rating of 7.30, joins Helik in defense. The American has three goals this year, all of which came in October, and was named man of the match in victories over QPR and Bristol City. In the win over the latter, Trusty featured with the 12th-best return in a game after making 10 clearances.

Center-back:

Robert Atkinson (Bristol City) – 7.29 rating: Robert Atkinson completes the backline, having starred at the back for the Robins despite Bristol City conceding 11 goals in eight games in October, one of the worst defensive records, as evidenced by a rating of 7.29 on WhoScored.com. Atkinson scored two of his three goals in October, and he also won 47 aerial duels—more than any other player.

Right midfield:

Jerry Yates (Blackpool) – 7.66 rating: Jerry Yates is the WhoScored.com Championship Player of the Month with a rating of 7.66. In October, the Blackpool winger led the division in goals scored with seven and added a further assist. Yates gave Blackpool eight more points for the right position in this starting XI because of his overall goal output.

Central midfield:

Gustavo Hamer (Coventry) – 7.47 rating: Gustavo Hamer’s September came to an unfortunate conclusion when he was ejected from Coventry’s 0-0 draw with Birmingham, but he has since made up for it. Hamer, who was named man of the match against both Stoke and Rotherham, has earned a WhoScored.com rating of 7.47, earning him a spot on the Team of the Month.

Central midfield:

Josh Brownhill (Burnley) – 7.42 rating: Josh Brownhill, a crucial midfielder, is the only member of Burnley’s roster for the October Team of the Month. No player made more tackles than the 26-year-old Clarets star (26), and his 18 chances to score were the second-most in the division. This indicates that the star was strong off the ball. Brownhill has two assists and one goal, giving him a WhoScored.com rating of 7.42, which is reasonable given his inclusion.

Central midfield:

Oliver Norwood (Sheffield United) – 7.39 rating: Oliver Norwood, the first of Sheffield United’s two starters, was unfortunate not to have an assist in October despite contributing 15 important passes over the course of his seven games. At least Norwood scored in the 3-3 draw with Blackpool, which was his second league goal of the season. The midfielder for the Blades is rated 7.39 on WhoScored.com.

Left midfield:

Hassane Kamara (Watford) – 7.21 rating: The final member of the midfield is Hassane Kamara of Watford, who has a WhoScored.com rating of 7.21. The Hornets full-back Kamara concluded the month of October in fourth place overall for tackles and interceptions combined (36), while also recording his first and second league assists of the year.

Striker:

Yakou Meite (Reading) – 7.35 rating: Yakou Meite, a forward for Reading, has only directly contributed to four league goals this year, scoring twice, and all four occurred in October throughout five outings. Meite scored on two of his seven shots, adding to his statistically determined WhoScored.com strength of “finishing,” and earning a spot in the attack with a rating of 7.35.

Striker:

Oliver McBurnie (Sheffield United) – 7.24 rating: Oliver McBurnie, a striker for Sheffield United, will be lining up beside Meite. McBurnie has scored seven goals so far this season, three of which came in October against Birmingham, Norwich, and West Brom. Only Ben Brereton Diaz (23), who has a WhoScored.com rating of 7.24, had more shots than McBurnie (21) over the past month.
